March in Pride
on Veterans Day

There have been LGBT Veterans groups in cities across America since the mid 1980s.  They have been marching in patriotic pride in Veterans Day Parades for nearly 30 years!  It was that visibility which resulted in the eventual repeal of the Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy, equal benefits for our service members and veterans, and the right to marry in 14 states.  People saw that we served with honor and distinction.  Heroes like Frank Kameny, Leonard Matlovich, RADM Alan Steinman, Generals Keith Kerr and Virgil 'Hawk' Richard, Danny Ingram, Eric Alva, AVER President Steve Loomis, and so many others, past and present, have stepped forward courageously to represent our service, our duty, our honor, and our right to serve our nation in pride.

We've come a long way.  But, whether you are 18 or 80, on your first year of military service or a veteran of the Greatest Generation that served in World War II, you can still march in pride to the cheers and shouts of "Thank you for serving!" from millions of Americans who will come to see this year's Veterans' Day Parades in November.  As we have done for decades, AVER's chapters will march in pride in this year's parades, under the American and Rainbow flags, chins up, chests out, medals and ribbons on, proud of our service to our nation.

Following is a partial list of AVER Chapters marching in this year's Veterans' Day Parades, so that you can call to sign up to march in pride, this year, with the nation's LGBT veterans.
